The four-chambered 'stomach' of a ruminant (cow, sheep, goat) is very efficient at turning high-fiber feed sources into fuel for growth, meat, and milk production. A calf is born with the same four-chambered stomach as an adult cow, but it develops and changes as the calf grows and eats different things. Allergic contact dermatitis is a type of rash that develops when your skin touches a substance you're allergic to. This reaction can happen completely independently of hay fever (say, due to an allergy to metal on a watch), but it can also occur along with it because of a shared trigger. Ask the Editor Question 'To not be' or 'not to be' Answer To not be or not to be - that is the question. Actually, the question has to do with where to put to and not when using the infinitive form of any verb. Adam asks in particular about to not seek and not to take, but nearly any combination of infinitive and not would be possible. English teachers sometimes say that one should never "split" an infinitive - that is, put a word typically an adverb between the particle to and the verb form itself. So, for example, instead of To boldly go where no man has gone before. such a teacher would prefer To go boldly where no man has gone before. It turns out that the real rule is a question of clarity and style and not grammar. It's not wrong either way, but if one construction makes your sentence more clear or more emphatic, then you can use it. In the above example, to boldly go seems more urgent and may convey exactly the right idea to others. But both examples are grammatically correct. However, the form that does not "split" the infinitive is much more common in print, and using this form not to be; to go boldly; not to take will work in almost every circumstance. Here are just a couple more examples so you can see both kinds of construction Our parents told us to drive safely, to not stay out too late. Speaking on the first day of 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, which doesn't include a main trade fair, Hay described the shows as "completely irresponsible" and said they are "not the way forward". Trade fairs "not the way forward" "Trade shows are a completely irresponsible way of showing by putting so much money, energy and materials into a display that is there for four or five days," Rolf Hay told Dezeen. "It's not the way forward and I think everyone can see that." "So the building of something like 3 Days of Design is mainly done in permanent showrooms around the city, and they will all remain beyond this week," he continued. "So it's definitely a more healthy way of showing." With no main trade fair, 3 Days of Design, which is now celebrating its 10th year, mostly takes place in showrooms located in close proximity to each other across the Danish capital. Rolf Hay was speaking from the company's central Copenhagen showroom Hay House, where they are launching several new products including the Boa Table by Stefan Diez constructed from a recycled extruded tubular frame made from recycled aluminium, the Arcs mirrors and drinks trolleys by Muller van Severen, and the Weekday collection of benches by Hannes & Fritz, during the festival. "There are more powerful ways to launch products than at trade shows" Rolf Hay went on to questioned the purpose of trade fairs and suggested that digital launches may provide more impact and better value for money. "If you go back 10 years, the main purpose of a trade fair was to launch new products but this is actually not the case anymore because there are more powerful ways to launch products than at trade shows," he said. "What we learned from Covid is that if you skip a trade show, companies have the opportunity to put more money into digital," he continued. And in some cases it gives a better pay off some products are better for a digital online launch than a real presentation because you gain more traffic online than you do on a trade show." He believes that the approach taken by 3 Days of Design is more aligned with the brand's customers. "This event is getting stronger and stronger and also more international," said Rolf Hay. "For us, Hay is here every day so it's basically about opening our doors. There's no doubt that what 3 Days of Design is offering is maybe more aligned with the interests of our customers." "It could make sense for us to return to Milan next year but never at the fair" Hay choose not to exhibit at Milan design week this year. Rolf Hay explained that this decision was due to his view that the fair was focused on the European market. "[Last year,] it was very clear that there was very little participation from Asia and North America, so it was mainly a European trade show," said Rolf Hay. "Due to that, we decided that we didn't want to be in Milan this year." "The fair can be right for some companies," he continued. "But you can also see the tendency is that the big companies are pulling out of the fair and remaining in the city because the community part is stronger. But it's also more expensive." However, he said that he could see returning to Milan in future years, but it would aim to exhibit within the city rather than in the Salone del Mobile trade show. "This year, I actually felt for the first time that Milan was getting back in shape," he said. "Afterwards, my wife and I thought that maybe it was a mistake to have missed it," referring to Mette Hay, co-founder of the brand. "It could make sense for us to return to Milan next year but never at the fair. Never ever at the fair. It will 100 per cent be in the city. We're looking for the cultural interaction," he added. Founded in 2002 by Rolf and Mette Hay, Danish brand Hay originally produced contemporary furniture, but has since added office systems, lighting and home accessories and worked with designers include Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec, Jasper Morrison, GamFratesi and Inga Sempé. 3 Days of Design takes place from 7 June to 9 June 2023. Every day I see patients in my clinic at their wits’ end with the symptoms of this seasonal allergy. One patient recently described hay fever as something that “sucks all the joy out of my summer”.A common misconception is that hay fever only develops in childhood, but hay fever can in fact develop at any age. It affects one in four adults and one in ten children, according to latest data from the Met Office. Sadly, the number of hay fever sufferers is increasing year on year, and while we don’t fully understand the reasons why, the rise has been linked to environmental factors such as climate change and rising and my colleagues have certainly seen an increase in the number of people seeking medical advice due to severe symptoms of hay fever which are making them feel miserable and affecting their home, work and social alerts are warning of an imminent “pollen bomb” hitting certain parts of the UK. This isn’t a medical term but describes very high levels of pollen which can make symptoms worse in those already are different types of pollen grains and people can be allergic to one or a number of them. Pollen can trigger an allergic reaction where the immune system becomes activated to mount a response in order to fight off this perceived of hay fever are wide ranging and can include sneezing, a runny nose, congestion, sore throat, itchy streaming eyes and a dry cough. In some cases it can trigger headaches and rashes. It is important that anyone with chronic lung conditions, especially asthma or COPD, be more vigilant as hay fever can cause shortness of breath and wheezing. If you have these conditions, ensure you have your regular inhalers with you at all ArticleThe symptoms listed are the result of a sharp and sudden rise in a chemical called histamine which is produced by the immune system as it fights to destroy the pollen, and so the mainstay of treatment is to try to dampen this response by taking antihistamines. I always advise my patients who suffer from hay fever to start their antihistamines a few weeks before the higher pollen season begins in February and continue it daily until the season ends around are readily available at the pharmacy and in many supermarkets, but if you have tried a few and not had any relief, then its best to speak to your GP. Similarly for the congestion and upper respiratory symptoms, intranasal steroid sprays are very effective. These are available from your pharmacy or there are several private clinics and online companies who are promoting the use of “hay fever injections” which are not recommended for hay fever because of the lack of evidence to support their long-term use. People are being sold these, often at ridiculous prices, and I urge caution to those who may be steroids and other hay fever treatments have not worked, then your GP may refer you for immunotherapy. This involves injecting small amounts of pollen to slowly build up immunity to is important that the power of lifestyle changes is not underestimated. Simple things to stop pollen entering the body can make a huge difference to symptoms, such as checking the Met Office pollen forecast before going out to avoid peak pollen times, keeping windows closed during the morning until early evening, putting Vaseline around your nostrils to trap the pollen, wearing wraparound sunglasses to stop pollen getting into the eyes, and always changing out of outdoor clothes when home and showering immediately to wash the pollen off. The next few days will be very warm and the pollen counts will be very high, so keep yourself as protected as you can. There’s lots of different treatments we can try, so call your GP if you are Punam Krishan is an NHS GP in Glasgow, medical educator and director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine
